At GPR there are 31 external car parking spaces at GPR, including 2 disabled car parking spaces. Managing these spaces continues to be a difficult task as non-genuine visitors abuse our parking facilities. The ACT Government no longer provides any service to us. Genuine visitors, health care workers, tradies, retail customers and guests, are often frustrated at the lack of car parking spaces available.

 

The EC established a Parking Working Group to explore options. They have identified 5 options as follows. Note: underline options have a link providing greater information.

1. Escalating letters threatening legal action under trespass laws.

2. Ticketless parking using licence plate recognition.

3. Use of external parking agencies to police parking. 

4. Remotely controlled automatic bollards using smart phone apps.

5. Key operated barriers.

 

Each option has advantages and disadvantages. This may lead to adoption of a combination of options.

Feedback from owners and residents is sought to assist the Parking Working Group in addressing this vexed issue.
